ARE YOU STILL USING PETROLEUM JELLY?
Are you using petroleum jelly as a lip balm?
Petroleum jelly is a by product of the oil industry (crude oil) and is a ridiculously cheap ingredient for skincare companies to use. So, as well as not being particularly nice for your delicate lips, it is made from fossil fuel so does not have an eco-friendly footprint!
Whilst it can protect against weather, it is an occlusive, meaning it prevents moisture loss BUT will not allow moisture to be absorbed externally.
New age balms allow an exchange of moisture so they are more hydrating because and help chapped lips to heal quickly.
Just take a look at one of our biggest sellers and the beautiful, juicy ingredients it contains;
Tea Tree Oil | An antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral essential oil that is widely used to prevent and treat many types of infection.
Portulaca Pilosa Extract | An extract derived from the flowering, succulent plant also known as “kiss me quick.” This water-loving extract mimics the result of Hyaluronic Acid injections; increasing lip volume, long-term hydration, and softness by doubling the synthesis level of moisture molecules (Hyaluronic Acid and Aquaporin 3) within the skin.
Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 | A supercharged peptide that affects the six major structural components of the skin to stimulate collagen synthesis and enhance skin plumpness, increase hydration levels, and protect and repair the signs of damaged skin.
Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Sterols | A phyto-sterol capable of binding double its weight in water on the surface of the skin and hair, while strongly increasing barrier function.
Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract | Referred to as the “ultimate natural hydrator,” coconut lipids are easily absorbed in the skin to improve moisture retention, prevent trans-epidermal water loss, and enhance barrier function.
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Oil | A non-comedogenic carrier oil that easily penetrates the skin, leaving it supple and soft.
